Sunrise

When you least expect it,
when a storm has blown down
your favorite powderpuff tree
and you sit, hands clasped,
daydreaming about vacant spaces
once filled with wild haired lovers,
he walks in, bells tied
to his fingers, his toes,
sings "Wake up, little Susie",
tells you the sun will rise again
in your hands if you let it.

Pris Campbell's poetry has been published in numerous journals and anthologies, including Chiron Review, Orange&Sardines, Boxcar Poetry Review, Main Street Rag, The Dead Mule and The Cliffs: Soundings. She has been nominated three times for a Pushcart Prize. The Nature of Attraction, just released by Main Street Rag Press, in collaboration with Scott Owens, is her fifth collection of poems. Sea Trails, from Lummox Press, preceded that collection, and is an account by way of poetry, log notes, charts, and photos of her six month trip down the east coast in 1977 in a 22 foot sailboat. A former Clinical Psychologist, he makes her home in the Greater West Palm Beach, FL.
