A History of the Blind Leading the Blind, Part One First of all, there were three blind mice tapping their way through rhymes and other little ditties, blind as bats but without the sonar. Poor mice. Poor tails. The snick and thwack of the carving knife had rendered them half as long. But there have been others who with eyes wide open still bumped into catastrophes like cars to a lamppost. And History is replete with little, long-caped cavaliers piling their tall ambitions up to your eyeballs, their spurs winking in the sun as a horn blows on cue calling you to put on your blinders, loosen your reins and trot along for the ride. Tim Mayo’s poems and reviews have appeared in Atlanta Review, 5 AM, Poetry International, Poet Lore, River Styx, Web Del Sol Review of Books, Verse Daily, Verse Wisconsin and The Writer’s Almanac among many other places. His first full length collection The Kingdom of Possibilities was published by MayapplePress in 2009. He has been twice nominated for the Best of the Net Anthology, and twice for a Pushcart Prize. He was also chosen as a top finalist for the Paumanok Award. He is on the author selection committee of the Brattleboro Literary Festival.
